Eight is Enough
I have been snagged/tagged by Britmum . The purpose of this tag is to list 8 things about yourself. Seems easy but.... is not. Hmm where do I begin? Let's see
1. I began driving at the age of 13 and had my first car then too.
( No I was not legal to drive....and no one gave me lessons.)
Needless to say there were many mishaps.
2. I had a severe crush on John Travolta. I remember seeing Saturday
Night Fever on a daily basis at the Theatre when it came out. I
joined his fan club and they sent an autographed picture of him.
I had numerous posters on my wall as a teenager, but he was the
only one that graced my ceiling (above my bed). *swoon*
3. About the same time as my Parents divorce, at the age of 10, I
contracted hepatitis A. It was the worst illness that I have ever had.
My best friends mother had it and somehow I became infected. I
remember my family, classmates and neighbors having to line up
for a shot that would prevent them from infection. I have my liver
checked yearly. Sometimes I wonder if this is why I tire easily.
4. There were about 10 very traumatic experiences during my
childhood. I will share one. When we arrived home from a
deer hunting trip. We found a man dead in our house. He had
broke in and used the rifle (the one my Mother decided not to use
and had left on the bed) to blow his head off. Needless to say we
never spent another night in the house. My mother would not go
back inside.
5. Some of my favorite memories of my childhood are visiting with
the elderly. My Granny and my Aunt would take us to visit
different nursing homes. And at Christmas time me, my siblings
and cousin would go to sing Christmas Carols. I think elderly
people are the smartest and most neglected group of people.
6. I was at Astroworld the day Elvis died. I called home and asked to
be picked up, I had to leave to mourn in private.
7. I left home at the age of 15. I returned at 16 and left again for good
at 17. The first time I left (at 15) I went to Las Vegas.
8. I believe that God has great things in store for me. I have always
believed in him. If not for the Lord, my Twins would not be here
today!
Anyone that has made it to the end of this list may /or may not wish to do this list of 8's. I like getting to know people, even though I must admit it is hard to share some things. Let me know if you decide to do this....so I can check it out.
And if you get the chance click on britmum's link above she is a really sweet gal in spite of her taggin' me. ;O)

Hi Neighbor -- you did good, none of those things I/we would not have known except for this tag.
That Britmum is fast. We both got tagged the same time. I will do mine this week some time.
The day Elvis died someone fell off the roller coaster at Astroworld and died. Do you remember that?
..
Thanks Neighbor!
No, Jim I did not know that someone fell to their death from a roller coaster on that very day. Are you sure?
There was so much coverage on Elvis that day, perhaps I just was not paying attention. Your memory is as sharp as a tack!
This is one of the best posts I've read. I can't put my finger on it but I really enjoyed it. (well not the dead guy in the house, that must have been very traumatic)
I learned a lot. Thanks.
Loved reading the meme and also Britmum's!!
Ya'll are so cute!!
:-D
I'm still getting over the dead guy in your house... and the John Travolta crush! ;-)
britmum tagged me too but haven't done it yet. oh horrible about the dead man in your house but to me it was more horrible that your mom was gonna use it on herself but decided not too!! i think i read that right. if not sorry. thanks for sharing!
1 plus twins- My Mom was going to take the rifle to use in Del Rio on our hunting trip, but decided to take another rifle instead...so she laid that one on her bed.
She was not going to use it on herself. Just want to clear it up. Take care
Quite the life you have led there Tamwill...I think some Vegas stories should be forthcoming. What a wild woman!
I loved John Travolta too, especially from Welcome Back Carter era...sigh.
Urban Cowboy. That's where I liked him best. Oh, and Grease too!
I miss Elvis...and Astroworld! ;)
WOW. Very interesting stuff there Tam! Great post :0)
